Report: NIH investments created $68 billion in economic activity last year

A new report (.pdf) from advocacy organization United for Medical Research highlights the economic impact of National Institutes of Health-supported research. Among the findings, NIH investments in 2010:

  • Led to the creation of 487,900 quality jobs
  • Produced $68.035 billion in new economic activity across the country
  • Allowed 16 states to experience job growth of 10,000 jobs or more
