Stanford's newest Nobel winner on the prize: It's an "incredibly beautiful" honor







 

How would you react to the phone call of a lifetime? In the audio above, from NobelPrize.org, Thomas Südhof, MD, answers his phone to discover he has just won the Nobel Prize in Medicine. "Are you serious?" he asks after a moment of stunned silence. And later, when discussing his previous awards: "There has been some speculation, but I never thought I would get it... This honor is incredibly beautiful."
