The Space Telescope Science Institute, in partnership with braille author Noreen Grice, has produced a three-dimensional touch map of the Carina Nebula for the visually impaired.
Grice discussed the challenges in creating such a map in a release:
When I first looked at the image, I didn't know what to focus on. In order to translate the image into a tactile image, I had to make certain that I understood the individual features that make up the image. There was so much to see.
