In honor of Valentine's Day, FOX News aired a story yesterday on the Stanford study showing the painkilling effect of love. Reporter Claudia Cowan correctly notes that clinicians can't go around prescribing love affairs for patients in pain, but researcher Sean Mackey, MD, PhD, said engaging in other meaningful activities might also prove to be effective at painkilling:
We may not be able to maintain that sense of passion all the time, [but] we can do the best we can to try to find other things that are also exciting and rewarding.
