Reporter shares hepatitis C experience in first-person medical stories

Journalist Meg Heckman contracted hepatitis C from a blood transfusion she received as an infant. Last year, she wrote a series of articles titled "My Epidemic" that used her battle with the disease to frame a discussion of the national epidemic. Now she's sharing her experience as both reporter and source in this video and in a Poynter article.

Heckman's story is an incredibly compelling one, and the video is worth watching.
