Image of the Week: Another look at E. coli

A particularly nasty strain of E. coli was in the news this week, so we thought we'd give you another look at E. coli up close. This is a scanning electron micgrograph showing a single Gram-negative bacterium. It has been magnified 22,409 times. This particular strain, enterotoxigenic E. coli, is a common cause of bacterial diarrhea.
